State Game Refuge
A component of the first Ramsar List site in the United States
Located on the northern shore of the Alaska Peninsula, near the community of Cold Bay and adjacent to the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, Izembek State Game Refuge supports one of the largest eelgrass beds in the world and annually hosts millions of waterfowl and shorebirds on their way to and from nesting grounds to the north. The State Game Refuge extends beyond the barrier islands into the Bering Sea.
