Potter Marsh Discovery Day
11am to 4pm, Saturday, June 4, 2022, Potter Marsh boardwalk, Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, 2880 East 154th Ave., located at Mile 117 along the Seward Highway approximately ½ mile south of the Rabbit Creek Road exit and across from the Rabbit Creek Rifle Range. Discover Potter Marsh and some of Alaska's wildlife at Anchorage's most popular wildlife viewing area. This family-friendly event includes nature-related games, birding stations along the boardwalk, arts and crafts, educational animals from the Alaska Zoo, kid-friendly archery range, fly fishing practice area, and more. Event sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and other partners. Free. Please leave pets at home. Outdoor Survival (Alaskans Afield)

Imagine being stuck in the wilderness unexpectedly. Would you know what to do? Give yourself a better chance of surviving and being found by learning basic outdoor survival skills. Instructors will cover what to pack in an emergency kit, how to start a fire, signal a rescue party, and prepare yourself for a night in the woods. Minimum age 8 years and up. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Reflections Lake is located at Mile 30 of the Glenn Highway at Knik River Access Exit. Park at the maintenance road for a short walk directly to the lake. This course is being co-taught by ADF&G and Onward and Upward. -

Come join the fun and learn to cook delicious and nutritious meals for your next wilderness outing. We will explore safe and efficient cooking methods, discuss how to prepare healthy backcountry meals, forage for wild and traditional foods, and cook a delicious lunch to share.
